2 Easy Ghee Recipes to Try This Festive Season

Shares

We’re quickly approaching the festive season, and since we love homely traditions, how could we resist a great homemade sweet? For many people, their earliest memories of festivals start with yummy sweets, so why not surprise your family with some special desi ghee sweets? And bonus, these are really easy and do not compromise on taste!

Mysore Pak

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Besan
  • ½ Nova Shudh Ghee
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ¼ cup Water

The key to making a great Mysore Pak is to use great quality besan and ghee. While this recipe is simpler to follow, using lower-quality ghee could lead to lumpy blocks of Mysore Pak. Try to find pure cow ghee for the best results. So, we suggest using Nova Ghee for sweets that will make your family smile instantly.

The directions are relatively simple to follow. Start by dry roasting 1 cup of besan at a low flame. When the besan turns aromatic, remove the lumps if there are any. Add half a cup of pure cow ghee and mix well. Create a simple syrup in a separate kettle by dissolving sugar in water at a medium flame. Combine the simple syrup and besan mixture and stir until they’re completely combined. Take your sweet mixture and pour it into a tray and let it rest for 30 minutes (line the tray with a baking sheet so your mixture doesn’t stick). Once cooled, cut your Mysore Pak into your desired shape, and enjoy!

Milk Powder Barfi

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cup Milk Powder
  • ¾ Cup Nova Pasteurized Full Cream Milk
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • ¼ Nova Shudh Ghee

In a large skillet tray (Khadai), combine ¼ cup Nova Shudh Ghee and ¾ Cup Nova Pasteurized Full Cream milk. Let the ingredients mix well, and add 2 ½ cups of milk powder. Add some sugar to the mixture. You can adjust the sweetness, but we recommend ½ cup sugar for this serving. Mix everything and keep stirring so no lumps are formed and wait for the sugar to dissolve. Stir the mixture for 10 minutes till the milk mixture thickens, and a dough is formed. Make sure not to overcook if you want a fudgy consistency. Add ¼ tsp cardamom powder for a richer taste and transfer this mixture to a greased plate (remember to line it with a baking sheet so it doesn’t stick). Let the mixture set and add your preferred toppings (we recommend pistachios and roasted almonds). Once set completely, cut it into any shape you prefer and serve it to your family for maximum happiness. You can also store your barfi in an airtight container for a week!
